Patients Stories

James Goff

In 1985 when local Bandleader James Goff was diagnosed with a type of bowel cancer which normally happens in older men, the then 40 year old was given three months to live. James says he still finds it hard to believe that today he is fighting fit, totally free of cancer.

"I did not have the normal symptoms, I had severe stomach pains, and it was only by being persistent with the doctors that I was taken seriously enough for tests to be carried out. The rest is history. I cannot emphasise enough the importance of seeking medical advice if you have any unusual symptoms, and to be persistent."

The James Goff Big Band is well known for its support of charities and especially for The Bowel Cancer Trust, "which has a special meaning for me", says James.
