Bowel Cancer Trust in Milton Keynes
SCOPEGUIDE AT HOSPITAL!
Dr. Ravi Madhotra, Clinical Director, MK and Bucks Bowel Cancer Screening Programme and Dr. Sandro Lanzon-Miller, Consultant Gastroenterologist, two of the Consultants who will be using the ScopeGuide at Milton Keynes Hospital, with Neville Billington,
Chairman of the Friends of Milton Keynes Hospital who donated £15,000 to the ScopeGuide Appeal, Maureen Pruskin Charity Fundraiser and Sister Lorna Kirkham of the Endoscopy Unit.
The Bowel Cancer Trust £70,000 Appeal for the ScopeGuide received a surprise reduction to £35,000 from manufacturer Olympus. The Trust had already raised over £40,000 and the balance will now go towards other up-to-date equipment for Bowel Cancer patients.
The ScopeGuide will be a very valuable addition to the Colonoscopy Clinic as it displays the position of the colonoscope during an endoscopic examination of the colon (bowel) making it easier to examine the whole colon and contributing to patient comfort. The ScopeGuide is based on magnetic fields inside the colonoscope and picked up by the platelike antenna. No X-ray radiation is required.
Stephanie Moore, widow of football legend Bobby Moore who died of Bowel Cancer gave her support to the appeal.
Fundraiser Maureen Pruskin thanks the public for their support and emphasised the importance for continued fundraising and donations. For information on the Bowel Cancer Trust please contact Maureen on 01908 565552.
